Program summary

This Climate Governance Module is designed to strengthen corporate capacity to understand, assess, and respond to climate-related risks and opportunities, in line with emerging global disclosure standards and investor expectations. With the increasing frequency of climate shocks, supply chain disruptions, and tightening regulatory requirements—such as the IFRS S1 and S2, and national decarbonization targets—companies must embed climate considerations into governance structures, enterprise risk management (ERM), and long-term strategy. This module equips board members, senior management, and ESG practitioners with the knowledge to evaluate climate risks and translate them into actionable business insights and decision-making frameworks.

The training covers foundational concepts of physical and transition risks, climate risk assessment methodologies (e.g., RCP, SSP, and NGFS scenarios), and how climate risks intersect with broader ESG materiality and disclosure. It also explores the essential elements of corporate climate governance, such as board oversight, risk accountability, and climate KPIs, supported by real-world examples from leading firms and stock exchanges. Through hands-on activities and case-based discussions, participants will gain practical tools to assess risks, identify opportunities, enhance transparency, and align their business strategies with a low-carbon future.

After completion of this program, participants will be better able to:

  • Understand climate risks and opportunities and their implications for business operations, assets, supply chains, and market competitiveness.
  • Learn to conduct a climate risk assessment, including identifying physical and transition risks using science-based scenario analysis (e.g., RCP 4.5/8.5, SSPs, NGFS).
  • Explore the core components of corporate climate governance, including board-level oversight, risk integration into ERM, internal controls, and strategic alignment.
  • Align climate risk disclosure with global frameworks, particularly IFRS S2, TCFD, and sector-specific guidance (e.g., ISSB, GRI, EU CSRD).
  • Ink climate risk to materiality assessment, enabling participants to prioritize climate issues that are financially and socially significant for stakeholders and business performance.
  • Develop practical steps for integrating climate governance into organizational policies, reporting systems, and strategic planning for long-term value creation.
