Program summary

Indonesia’s unanimous acceptance as a member of the Financial Action Task Force (FATF) signifies international recognition of the country's effectiveness in regulating, coordinating, and implementing its Anti-Money Laundering and Counter-Terrorism Financing (AML/CFT) regime. Furthermore, Indonesia’s membership is expected to accelerate economic growth through increased domestic and foreign investment, as investor confidence in the government strengthens alongside public trust in the security of investments in Indonesia.

Indonesia’s inclusion as an FATF member encourages the banking sector to elevate its standards in compliance, operations, and risk management, including:

  • Banks must adopt a more proactive Risk-Based Approach, including the use of systems to screen individuals or entities listed on international sanctions lists;
  • The banking industry needs to enhance its Suspicious Transaction Monitoring Systems to meet FATF standards, including the ability to detect patterns of money laundering and terrorist financing;
  • Strengthening Human Capital, through regular training for employees to understand FATF standards and the implementation of AML/CFT and Counter-Proliferation Financing programs, especially for compliance officers and internal auditors.

After completion of this program, participants will be better able to:
