Program summary

The presence of Acid Mine Water (AMD) in a mining area can have a negative impact, namely contamination of surface water and groundwater. This pollution can reduce soil fertility, disrupt public health, and can cause corrosion in construction and mining equipment. The formation of AMD is inseparable from the presence of a material known as Potential Acid Forming (PAF) material which is present in rocks associated with coal seams. Therefore, an initial identification using AMD modeling is required, followed by preventive and corrective methods to minimize the effects of AMD on the environment.

Thus every company is required by the government through the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources to carry out AMD Management as a form of corporate responsibility for the environment and in accordance with the ESG

After completion of this program, participants will be better able to: • Understand the principles of Acid Mine Drainage (AMD) Management is part of Good Mining Practice • Conduct exploration planning for AMD prediction • Conduct comprehensive preventive method for AMD • Conduct comprehensive corrective method for AMD • Set up appropriate action plan for improvement to maintain AMD
